Saving Your Password

Nearly all versions of Windows have a nasty habit of forgetting the Internet login password from time to time. The patchwork code that coordinates and runs Window's Internet connections offers up a multitude of ways it can forget your password, so there is no one thing that will fix all problems in every machine.

The following are several strategies, from the simple to the complex, that that you may try in order to restore your passwords:

  • Remove & reinstall your dialup icon: Double click on your "My Computer" icon. Double click on the “Dialup Networking” icon. Right click on the icon that represents your connection to the Internet. Select “Properties”. Examine ALL boxes and tabs in this window, and write down the values and settings.

After you have transcribed ALL information, exit the window and again right click on your connection icon then select “Delete”. Now double click the “Make new connection” icon and fill in the blanks. If you have the simple password failure, this should fix it. If not, you will need to try the next suggestion.

  • Remove & reinstall entire dialup system:

  • Edit your registry:
