Email Virus Warnings
Or with subjects or titles like:
Join The Crew
Or any email warning admonishing you not to open the mail or it will erase your hard drive. And suggesting you should pass the warning on to everyone you know. For years it was an accepted fact that, the only way you could get infected by an email virus was by actually opening, or double clicking, the accompanying attachment. Not so anymore! Thanks, in part, to the email program manufactures. You now can get an email virus by just reading your mail. Click Here to learn how you can protect your computer from these bugs. Attachments can infect your computer, but only if you execute them. For more about attachments, please see our web page about The Melissa Virus there is a section about attachments and how to stay safe. I receive hundreds of these types of bogus virus warnings each month. These warnings are passed on by well-meaning but ignorant people. They think they are helping, but in reality all they are doing is clogging up the Internet with this nonsense. You can make the Internet a better place by NOT passing on these bogus warnings. If you wonder if a warning you have received is real or a fake, here's a simple rule of thumb: "If the message tells you to pass it on, you can be sure it's a fake". The best virus protection is a good Anti-Virus program. Click Here for a list of many of the anti-virus companies. I hope this helps you keep and maintain a proper and safely running computer. If you have any computer related questions or needs, feel free to call or Email Me.
